In the jail, if the inmate housing pods face each other, how is there any privacy for the inmates?

The Jail

Privacy is achieved using one-way glass along the common walkway area of the jail.  In this situation, the jailer can see into each pod, but the inmates cannot see out of the pod. When they are in the open shared space of each jail pod, they are observable by the jailer.  In their sleeping rooms, inmates have a greater degree of privacy as they are not directly observable.
